Matching the Shell range to your equipment
- Shell Gadus grease: Gadus S2 V220 and Gadus S2 V150 C are general multipurpose greases for rolling bearings, while higher-series grades such as Gadus S3 and S5 suit higher temperature, heavier load or longer relubrication intervals. Choose by speed, load, temperature and water exposure.
- Shell Omala gear oil: For enclosed industrial gearboxes. Omala S2 G 220 is a widely used extreme-pressure grade; Omala S2 GX and the synthetic Omala S4 GX are for duty where longer oil life or higher operating temperatures matter.
- Shell Tellus hydraulic oil: Tellus S2 MX for general hydraulic systems, and Tellus S2 VX with a high viscosity index for equipment working across wide temperature swings, such as outdoor mining machines.
- Shell Morlina bearing & circulating oil: Morlina S1 B 100 for plain and rolling bearings fed by circulating or bath lubrication systems.
- Shell Corena compressor oil: Corena S3 R 68 and Corena S4 R 46 for rotary screw compressors, and the Corena P grades for reciprocating compressors.
- Shell air tool oil: For pneumatic tools fed through line lubricators, to reduce wear and corrosion inside the tool.

Selecting the correct grade
Always start with the equipment maker's recommended viscosity grade and specification. Then consider operating temperature, load, contamination and the oil-change interval you want to achieve. Switching from mineral to synthetic oil can extend drain intervals, but check seal compatibility and flush the system where required. Which Shell gear oil should I use for an industrial gearbox?
Use the viscosity grade specified by the gearbox maker. For most enclosed industrial gearboxes running in normal conditions, a mineral extreme-pressure oil such as Omala S2 G 220 is a common choice. For high operating temperatures or extended drain intervals, a synthetic grade such as Omala S4 GX may be suitable after checking seal compatibility.
Which Shell Gadus grease is suitable for general bearing lubrication?
For most general industrial rolling bearings, a multipurpose grade such as Gadus S2 V220 works well. For high temperatures, heavy loads, wet conditions or long relubrication intervals, a higher-series Gadus grade may be better.
