Gear Boxes and Geared Motors
A range of gearboxes and geared motors by J K Fenner available for a wide range of load capacities and speed ratios.
Pulleys
A wide range of pulleys for efficient power transmission.
Couplings
A wide variety of couplings for efficient power transmission. As an authorised JK Fenner dealer we stock the three ranges plant engineers search for most, with full catalogues to download:
Resilient (spring grid) couplings use a flexible steel grid between two flanged hubs to absorb shock loads and vibration while taking up misalignment — a common choice on crushers, conveyors, pumps and fans in cement and mining plants. Download the Fenner resilient coupling catalogue (PDF).
HRC couplings join two hubs through a flexible rubber element, accommodating minor angular and parallel misalignment with almost no maintenance — ideal for pumps, compressors and gearbox drives. Download the Fenner HRC coupling catalogue (PDF).
Fenaflex tyre couplings clamp a flexible rubber tyre between two flanges, giving high misalignment capacity and torsional damping; the tyre can be replaced without moving the connected machines. Download the Fenaflex tyre coupling catalogue (PDF).

Choosing the Right Coupling from the Fenner Coupling Catalogue
The Fenner coupling catalogue covers several coupling families, and picking the wrong one is a common cause of premature bearing, seal and shaft failures. Before you open a catalogue page, note down four things about your drive: the misalignment you expect, the type of load, the torque to be transmitted and the shaft sizes on both sides.
Four factors that decide the coupling type
- Misalignment: Every installation has some angular, parallel and axial misalignment, and it grows as foundations settle. A Fenaflex tyre coupling tolerates comparatively large misalignment and its split tyre can be changed without moving the motor or the driven machine. Jaw and HRC types suit drives that are aligned reasonably well.
- Shock load: Crushers, conveyors, mixers and reciprocating machines produce shock and vibration. A resilient coupling with a rubber element absorbs these peaks and protects the gearbox and motor bearings.
- Torque: For high torque in a compact size, a gear coupling is the usual choice; a grid coupling is another all-metal option that also cushions shock. Both need periodic greasing, while rubber-element couplings do not.
- Shaft size: Confirm the bore range of each hub against both shafts, including keyway details. The HRC coupling size chart in the catalogue lists the bore range, rated torque and maximum speed for each size, so you can select by torque first and then check the bore.
Apply a service factor from the catalogue for your type of driven machine and running hours; selecting purely on motor kW often leads to an undersized coupling. If you are comparing an FRC coupling or another make against an existing installation, share the old part details and we can help you find the matching Fenner type.
Complete drive packages from one supplier
Couplings are usually bought along with the rest of the drive. Alongside the coupling range we supply the Fenner gearbox line on this page (helical, bevel helical, worm and shaft-mounted reducers and geared motors) and taper lock pulleys with bushes, which locate firmly on plain shafts without heavy machining. Pair these with SKF bearings and housings and the right Shell gear oil for a complete, maintainable drive.

Fenner Coupling FAQs
How do I select the right coupling size from the Fenner coupling catalogue?
Calculate the design torque from motor power and speed, multiply it by the service factor given in the catalogue for your driven machine, and pick the smallest size whose rated torque exceeds that figure. Then confirm that the bore range fits both shafts and that the maximum speed is above your operating speed.
What is the difference between an HRC coupling and a Fenaflex tyre coupling?
An HRC coupling uses a rubber insert between two cast-iron jaw hubs and is a compact, fail-safe choice for well-aligned general-purpose drives. A Fenaflex tyre coupling uses a flexible rubber tyre that absorbs more shock and accommodates larger misalignment, and the split tyre can be replaced without moving the connected machines.
When should I use a gear coupling instead of a resilient coupling?
Choose a gear coupling for high torque in a limited space, such as heavy conveyors, mill drives and large pumps. It is all-metal and needs regular greasing. A resilient coupling is better where you want to damp vibration and shock and avoid lubrication, provided the torque is within its rating.
What does a Fenner coupling cost?
Price depends on the coupling type, size, bore and quantity, and on whether you need complete couplings or only spare elements such as HRC inserts or Fenaflex tyres. Share your motor kW, speed, shaft sizes and application through the Request a Quote button and we will send a quote for the correct size.
